Response to HSSIB Investigation report into Temporary staff

The National Guardian’s Office welcome the investigation by HSSIB into the involvement of temporary workers in patient safety investigations.

Dr Jayne Chidgey-Clark, National Guardian for the NHS said: “This report underlines why it is so important that everyone – no matter what their contract terms – can speak up and their concerns and suggestions are heard and acted upon.

“Freedom to Speak Up guardians are available to all workers – this includes temporary, agency and bank staff. They can offer fresh insights into practices and quality of care. For the safety of all our patients, it is essential that their voices are encouraged and listened to, to stop harm before the investigation stage.”
