Secretary of State endorses Speak Up Month

A new video featuring Matt Hancock MP, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, has been released today in which he endorses the National Guardian’s Office Speak Up Month campaign.

In the two and a half minute video, the Minister thanks NHS workers that have spoken up and Freedom to Speak Up Guardians who have helped them do so. “As Health Secretary I am committed to making speaking up business as usual in the NHS,” he says.

Speak Up Month is in its second year and the momentum of support and awareness raising was further endorsed last week when Ian Trenholm, Chief Executive of the CQC released a similar video:

Local Freedom to Speak Up Guardians throughout England are making huge efforts to raise awareness of speaking up throughout the month and are encouraging workers to raise any issues they may have. Events and activities are taking place in a range of healthcare organisations with all manner of innovative approaches from stalls and information sessions to cupcakes being baked, flags being hoisted, tress being planted and even poems being written. All in the name of Freedom to Speak Up.
